Thursday October 22, 2009 Chad Norman, and his publisher, Warren Fulton of Pooka Press, launched Chad's new book "There is Music in the Word Impeachment" on October 22 at 7pm. Both Chad and Warren did readings.
BIO - CHAD NORMAN
Chad Norman enjoys the friendly pace of the East Coast. His poems have appeared in magazines, anthologies, newspapers, across Canada, as well as literary journals in the States, England, Scotland, Australia, and Japan. He has given poetry workshops, talks on Literacy, for all ages, and many unique readings to celebrate other poets. He also continues his memory work with a newly completed manuscript, Masstown, poems about the disappearance of family-operated dairy farms. Norman has organized and hosted The All's Well Mixture, at the Fair Trade Cafe in Truro, a monthly series to showcase local authors and musicians. His latest book of poems, Going Mad For The Love Of Sanity, was released 2008, by Chameleon Fire Editions, New Denver, BC.. At the moment he is editing a manuscript, Ants On The Rainbow:Poems For, To, And About Children, as well working on a new poetry manuscript, The Book Of Silly: Nonsense Verse For The 21st Century Mind. A new book of poems, There Is Music In The Word Impeachment, with photos by Truro photographer Bruce Wayne Dyke, is to be released October 2009 from Pooka Press, Vancouver, B.C..
BIO - WARREN FULTON
Warren Dean Fulton is a poetic prospector, panning for gold along the banks of language. He runs a micro poetry publishing company, pooka press from his home in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is the author of several poetry chapbooks, including:
- scrap paper poems, 2001 (printed in a limited edition of 2001 copies) - love's Lost & Found, 1994 - this poem, 2009
This past June, Warren embarked on a tour, pookapalooza - a poetry roadshow celebrating 15 yrs of pooka press, which brought him to 8 different cities in 6 provinces in 15 days ( Kamloops , Calgary , Regina , Winnipeg , Ottawa , Montreal , Thunder Bay , Vancouver ). He has been published in lit mags, now & then, here & there.

She read for half an hour and others read from their own writings can do so (a max of 5 minutes) This was followed by chat about writing, books life!
JP Carpenter writes:
I was born and raised in the Annapolis Valley and many of my stories are set there. I have lived in Montreal since 1990. My first novel Words the Dog Knows, starts off in Nova Scotia and migrates to Montreal. It was published by Conundrum Press in 2008 and won the Expozine Alternative Press Award for Best English Book. I am a two-time winner of the CBC Quebec Short Story Competition and both winning stories were set in Nova Scotia. I am also the winner of the QWF Carte Blanche Quebec Award, but that story was set in Wyoming.

We had two guest readers this night, Joanna Cooper and Douglas Piccinnini. Joanna and Douglas each read for 20 minutes and then the mike was open to others to read from their own works for a maximum of five minutes. Discussions followed.
Joanna Penn Cooper is a poet and scholar of American literature, who currently lives in New York City and teaches at Fordham University. She has published poetry, prose poetry, and scholarly work in a variety of journals, including Pleiades, the Cortland Review, and Boog City. She is currently working on an essay about Elizabeth Bishop's poem "In the Waiting Room," as well as a collection of poetry tentatively titled How We Were Strangers, and her chapbook is The Crocodile Lady and Other Poems.
Douglas Piccinnini is a poet with a MFA., who also runs a reading series in Brooklyn.
