The Great Village Heritage Pergola is a joint project of The Elizabeth Bishop Society of Nova Scotia and the Great Village Historical Society.
This is one of two panels about Elizabeth Bishop's connection to Great Village
The pergola celebrates the special cultural heritage of Great Village.
Panels present: the life of Elizabeth Bishop; The First Inhabitants: Aboriginal and Acadians; Early British Settlement; Lumber Industry; Shad Fishery; and the Age of Sail. Agriculture and built heritage / architecture are under development.
This is a mult-year project. When completed, a total of 16 panels will be on display from April to November.
Our sincere thanks go to the many people, businesses and organizations that worked together to build the pergola and to produce the interpretive panels.
The final panel will list all contributors to this important project.
